A 2012 Pinot Noir with Lots Left

A lot of the 2012 Pinot Noirs I have tasted are starting to lose a bit of what made '12 such a great year, almost as good as '08 but tonight I joined my wife in tasting a wine that surprised us both, Bennett's Lucky Seven 2012 made exclusively with 777 Pinot Noir grapes. Bold would be an understatement. This wine was so tannic they did not release it!
Now? Amazingly big and yet elegant. Huge unsweetened black fruits and cocoa on the nose with a surprising smoothness in the mouth. The tannins have developed into long chain molecules and move to the back of the mouth and the acid balance is very good.
Hints of leather, blackberry jam, gooseberry and a pleasant smokiness put this wine at; Collect! Drink now through 2028.
It stood up to heavy spices.
I would pair this with roasted vegetables like carrot and eggplant plus any roasted dark meat.
